Eating Out on a Low-Carb Diet
You don't have to become a hermit to lose weight. Most restaurants are very accommodating. The trick isn't finding a "low-carb restaurant"; it's knowing how to modify the menu anywhere.
The Burger Joint
Order: Bacon Cheeseburger.
Modification: "No bun, add extra lettuce" or "Protein Style."
Side: Swap fries for a side salad or coleslaw.
The Mexican Restaurant
Order: Fajitas or Burrito Bowl.
Modification: No rice, no beans, no tortillas. Double the meat, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. It’s a delicious mess.
The Italian Restaurant
Order: Chicken Parmesan or Steak.
Modification: Ask for the breading to be left off the chicken (grilled instead of fried). Swap pasta side for steamed broccoli with butter.
The Breakfast Diner
Order: Omelet or "The Lumberjack."
Modification: No toast, no hash browns. Ask for sliced tomatoes or extra bacon instead.
